Jo Gabriele Sheppard works in a studio in London and lives in Sussex.

Sheppard pulls on the significance of connecting the environment with individual and collective concerns. Making sculpture and painting from terrestrial and mythological viewpoints, using a dreamlike logic. She uses layered processes in a way similar to an archaeologist interested in a haptic feedback and the consciousness of sourcing materials such as linen, clay and surplus metal.

Overlaps and loose associations generated by the materials and processes lead to an extensity that can be read as a collection of ecological interests. Mysterious conflations arise, evoking history and ancient technologies, contemporary and ancient ecologies.

Jo has participated in group shows in London and Sussex, and previously worked as a draughtsperson and botanical artist.
